The Walk of Life

The reigns of peppermint powder slinks down from on high as we cover our hearts, and press on.
The wooded pathway narrow, and the heavy atmosphere calls out to lungs begging them to quit.
Sea legs dance in unison as arrows of fire spit from the shadows a quick glance is a lifetime of horror.
Pale faces contort, reload, and laugh at the souls that mist and evaporate.
Pride, and headlights the narrow view we grit our teeth as we are not men that are champions.
We are not men of honor everyone of us have our names written in hands we are all beggars, liars, and thieves.
We bank uphill, barefoot, barbwire, broken glass of lives we have destroyed by moving forward.
The alternate realities we shatter are only circumstance of the upward calling, as joy replaces the deep.
We pursue, we uproot, and the homes built bedrock on the faintest whispers of wisdom that echo, 'RUN AWAY WITH ME!'.
Patterns unravel, the most corrupt parts of us spatter, drain, flee, and disintegrate from our veins.
Breathe bites in as the chill dances through the mist we exhale that chorus of his name.
Snow drifts from too and fro as the steady march turns to full sprint of the spirit.
We think right back to home where we lost our way, and the house collapsed on the mighty, and museums our shame, but we are alive and well.
The white rider steads his flock we raise our gaze, and with dirty hands lay our crowns before him in humble surrender as the shadows fade in defeat. Our breathe is new as corrupted minds wake anew.
