Wait So Long
Babies in bloom the distant faces paused outlined in the snow as the tracks carry onward and north.
Hopeless is the air that escapes lungs as the brightest days in hearts ballooned along the coast.
Hearts break and sutures pulse like deep cherry confetti into the cold concaves as we both escape into the ether.
Eyes roll on, and the wind takes our warmth, and throats still against this frozen skyline.
Babies laugh and the tracks move on light years into the new dawn faded on the charcoal canvas.
Sugar laced drinks spill, and pop songs butter the rough edges of the days we used to laugh and dream.
Dreams that scaped this tundra like bare feet in full sprint, hands in hand as our hands lay here frozen two luxuries rose to the occasion and sighed the nights away.
Our grammar poor, the statues frozen as our hearts lay bare open, and cold the vitality shrugged and moved on.
Babies walk their first steps as they shed their blonde hair for yours, and grow to the sky.
Tears for two.
