Giving up Ghosts

Shame sinks to the bottom of the glass
Folding over and over into the midst of the midst of eternal rites
Calmest now the days removed and the years that have been good to you
Side by side crushed and cut down to size
Born to be fodder for ancient blood to speak
Beaten down by ageless words that turn flesh to stone
Trust that fractures on the backs of newborn babies that cry for warmth in the trash
Overwhelm the help stretched too far from home
Endless crisis becomes the lives we choose
Pollution that salves the purity we were never meant to keep
One dimensions of understanding undone as the bindings of reality up-heaves the miles of uphill fate burying necks too high for the cats back to climb out the predetermined graves.
Rain falls sits at the bottom as we came down with a nasty case of life.
Rotted foundations swept away as those who take leave us for dead
No love, no hate, tired impressions where they buried us down by the lake.
Alone wide awake against the backdrop of the bottomless drink
Cut the cord as we sip the self quakes down
All smiles as we drift to the center of the Earth.
