Harms Way Now and Then

Waters around me soak
Below in the caves and gullies that flicker against the apoplexy glass of the night
Separation anxieties they will never know as the Cesars rise with the froth
Old harm swirls in our faded gasps for fresh air in this town
Waters around me soak invading the synapses where we are meant to die
Acid rain churns the dirt that runs uphill and out of mind
The whispers of eternal harmonies dissolve the glue, and concrete bindings parting gifts from the teenage parents that suffocated us in the night
Harms way and more the bottoms drop out from below
Dim lit eyes open and shudder at our shame
Somewhere in waters voices cry out for help while being held down by the tips of fingers
Secrets that we sink with will not break this spell
Comfort warms in the search light above
A resounding applause for the struggling man
Every night we are swirling this same drain
Celebration in hands that don't dirty their own
Firmly face down in the moat
Gurgling for two as the lungs inhale
Out of sight
Out of mind
Out of time
